Spring Cleaning Your Social Media Presence

While you may (or may not) plan on doing some spring cleaning in your house this year, in this blog, we’re not talking about spring cleaning in the house, but spring cleaning online. As we’re now living in a virtual world, it’s time for your roofing business to do some *online* spring cleaning.

To accomplish this digital spring cleaning, you need to make sure your roofing company’s social media profiles are regularly updated, have easy-to-read posts, and look professional. Here’s a further look into doing just that!

Keep Everything Up-to-Date

The very first thing you should do when cleaning up your social media profiles: make sure all of your information is up-to-date!

Think about this scenario: someone has noticed some hail damage from their roof. They search Google for nearby roofers and give you a call. Problem is: the phone number they called is an old number. After hearing the “this phone number is no longer in service” message, they call the next roofer in line on Google, and you lose a customer without even knowing.

If you have outdated information on social media, your potential customers won’t be able to contact you!

First, make sure your “About” section (on Facebook, Google My Business, and/or LinkedIn) and your bio (Twitter and/or Instagram) correctly describes your business. Once that section is correct, people know exactly what your business is about!

Update your Social Media About Sections

Next, make sure all of your contact information is correct. If you have changed your email address, website domain, or phone number, be sure to update it on all of your social media pages. When a potential customer has a problem with their roof, the first thing they’re going to search for to reach you is your website and/or phone number.

If your “about” (or bio) and contact information are updated, you’ve already done some social media spring cleaning!

Make Sure Your Posts are Easy to Understand

Next step: your social media posts need to be easy to understand. In the virtual era, NEVER underestimate the power of social media content!

Social media content is SUPER important for an awesome social media presence. Think of social media content as the shingles to a strong roof. Like shingles complete a roofing system and make a house look complete, social media content gives your business a nice, polished look!

What’s even more important? Social media content that’s understandable and easy-to-read. Make sure posts are short, to-the-point, and have eye-capturing photos.

Keep Your Content Clean and Professional

Last but not least: keep your social media accounts professional. This seems like an obvious one, but today, it’s ESPECIALLY important that online profiles are squeaky clean. You don’t want your business to come under fire for a social media fail.

The best tip we have: double (or even triple) check anything you post on social media before posting.

And one last thing: make sure you’re posting on the right account. If you’re intending to post something on your personal account instead of your business’s account, take an extra second or two to make sure you are actually posting on your personal account.
